Because I became blind, I started converting texts into Braille.
My name is Dennis ten Boske, born in 1979 in Zeist (a village in the middle of The Netherlands). When I was eight years old I became blind because of brain surgery. In those years there was no internet so it wasn’t easy to get braille books, braille labels, and things like that.
In 2008, I couldn’t find a job. Because of that and because I want to make it easy for people to get braille texts and -labels, I decide to start my own company. Another intention of this company was to make braille readers more independent. I wanted to try to reach that they can read their own mail, in any case, a part of it. But that’s very difficult.
The name “Dorestad”, which I use in my company name, is coming from my current place of living, Wijk bij Duurstede. About the eighth century this city called “Dorestad”. So when I needed a new company name it was easy to choose this name.
Hopefully I can help you too with your, maybe special, question!
Kind regards,
Dennis ten Boske
